Teak

Picture
The Curious Guys Limited are the preferred distributors for one of the largest privately-owned and privately-funded hardwood plantations in the whole of Africa.

Not only is teak an amazing natural asset but it is also a dependable biological asset.  Probably the most noteworthy reason to become a Teak farmer is that, unlike stocks and shares, it is a physical asset you can see, touch and watch grow.  Teak is one of the highest quality woods in the entire world, used to make such exotic products as decking for yachts as well as high-end furniture.

Teak has a proven track record of strong growth.  Between 1975 and 2005, teak values increased 8.5% per annum compounded.  Although that is very impressive, the current view of the International Tropical Timber Organisation is that growth for our plantation and several others is likely to be around 18-24% per annum.

Global demand for teak is rising, while the global supply of teak is decreasing.  In fact teak trees are being cut down at a rate of 8-12 times greater than the rate of replanting.

The United Nations has designed 'Sustainable Development Goals' to safeguard forests because they provide resources for sustenance and survival.  One of the primary global agreements for reforestation and climate change is The Paris Climate Accord.

Here at The Curious Guys we believe that ethical profit can co-exist with environmental benefits and social responsibility, helping to create a better world for all of us and future generations.

The plantation is listed under the United Nations' REDD+ Register.    www.un-redd.org/

There are very generous tax reliefs available for individuals and corporate entities who grow teak.

Drone footage of the plantation's compartment 31.  It's incredible to think that this is only one of 47 compartments!  The footage gives an excellent perspective of the sheer size of the plantation.
